If you hear short beeps when you call someone else's phone, you may have been blocked. In fact, there are a lot of signs that tell you that you're on the blacklist. In this article, we'll tell you how to find out if a person has blacklisted you, by checking a few available ways:
What a blocked person hears
The best way to check if you've been blocked on your phone is to call the person on the other phone to clarify why you're blacklisted; however, it may well be a technical error.
Here are the basic symptoms of a "smart" blocking:
- A voice message (please call later or other text spoken by the caller)
- Repetition of the same message (technical or otherwise) for a long time
- The caller is busy and you hear ringing tone anytime
- The ringtone chosen by the person as a sound baffle plays cyclically for an infinite period of time.
All of the above is not necessarily a sign of blocking. Therefore, in such a case, there is no 100% working way to find out that you have fallen into disgrace. Let's go on and deal with each case separately.
Indication 1: Non-standard dial tone
You may have been restricted access at the mobile carrier level, and the message may be as follows:
- The person you are calling is not available (the number is busy).
- The caller is not receiving calls.
- The caller's phone is busy.
- This number is temporarily unavailable.
In fact, these voice messages are not yet signs of blocking. In addition, in addition to the standard messages, the caller can set a standard screen saver (so that you are not aware of the blocking).
But another option is also possible. We advise to keep cool and call back in a few hours or a couple of days (if time allows).
If the same message is repeated (and you are sure the addressee is reachable and the phone is not disconnected, the person is not in another country, or the mobile network is "lying" for several days) the conclusion is clear - you have probably been blocked and the number is in the black list.
Sign 2: An atypical number of rings
The call goes through, but after several rings the caller is redirected to the voicemail of the person. Alternatively, you hear one ring and then the answering machine goes off.
- One beep followed by short beeps is a sign of resetting the call. You can do this manually or by software, through blocker applications.
- A small number of beeps and subsequent redirection to voicemail may not be blocking, but ignoring
What does the answering machine say if you are blocked?
It can be a completely arbitrary text, any information, for example: "at the moment Vasya, Katya cannot answer your call" or "please leave a message for Kolya, he will definitely call you back as soon as he receives your message".
An answering machine is a good indication that you are blocked, since it is often used to block the phone more "softly" and slyly.
Accordingly, if the answering machine or long beeps are repeated every time you call - the addressee has blacklisted you.
How to check if you have been added to the ignore list
Step 1. It can be done programmatically through special applications-blockers for blacklisting.
Step 2. There's no need to make a fuss. First, the person you are calling may be in a "do not disturb" status. There are human factors - for example, the phone is disconnected or the battery is dead. In such cases, voicemail is triggered, and you can leave a voicemail message.
Step 3. So wait a few days, within reason, and try to call back.
Sign 3: The person is busy, the connection is being reset
If you get a "busy" signal - your number is probably blocked by your mobile operator. In fact, this is not the most typical method of blocking, it is preferred not to be abused.
Step 1: Try to make test calls for a few days. Do it unobtrusively during business hours. If the result is the same, there is a not very high, but still probability of blocking. Call from another phone to make it convincing.
Step 2: A much more likely reason for the reset is that your mobile operator or the operator of the person you are trying to reach is experiencing technical problems. Go to the mobile operator's website, read the news. However, such incidents are quite rare. To be sure that your assumptions are correct, call someone else who uses the same service provider.
Step 3. If the person you are trying to reach makes the call (i.e. the number is NOT busy), look for other reasons (a blocked or dead phone).
What to do if you are blacklisted
You won't be able to unblock your number or remove yourself from the blacklist through your wireless carrier; there's nothing you can do through your phone settings either. But there are some workarounds you can use to check as well.
- Method 1: Call the person from another number (for example, through a friend or other trusted person's number). Keep in mind that anonymous numbers are also easy to block.
- Method 2: Write an sms-message to the number you can't reach (though you can't always send an sms if you're on the sms blacklist).
- Method 3. Contact the person through social networks or by mail, or meet him on the street. Ask why you are blocked or what happened to your phone.
Don't be pushy: If you were blocked intentionally, there was a reason for it, you may or may not like it, but the fact remains. Just accept it, there's nothing you can do except make the situation worse.
